Eat the exact same amount of food, but only within an eight hour time window, and lose weight, reduce blood sugar and cholesterol, and get healthier in other ways, too.

Eating all the time was said to boost one’s metabolism, but it creates a chronic condition in which our bodies never properly garbage collect waste products from cells and proteins.

But those who use time-restricted eating can lose weight without restricting caloric intake, said Dr. Satchidananda Panda.

Let's not go overboard here. It does not give you Carte Blanche to just eat whatever you want. You'll undo most of the benefits if you eat junk, even if you manage to lose weight. The good news is that when you have a limited window to eat, it actually becomes a challenge to get those calories in. Instead focus on getting your nutrients in, especially Potassium and Magnesium.

Cutting carbs has increased my appetite for fruits & veggies.

Go figure :)

I’m a fan of OMAD (One Meal A Day). It’s quite amazing, actually. I always want to eat in the evening anyway, so it works out great. The problem is the social consequences. I go to a lot of meetings where food is brought in for lunch. I’m a cheapskate, so my policy is, if lunch is free, eat it. :)

I’ve been One Meal A Day, OMAD, for years.

Hard for the first two week, but then a total snap, plus you really enjoy your food, when you eat that one time.

You don’t realize how addicted you are to needless eating until you have switched.

Should kids, teens, or young adults do it? I don’t think so, no.

That jerk Twitter CEO eats NOTHING all weekend, every weekend. He’s tooootally into it, makes me look like a noob.

But now I understand why so many middle-age people are walking around, totally fat and disgusting.

You just do nooooot need that much eating, no way. I think A LOT of eating is owing simply to convention and peer pressure.

You go from 3 to 2, and then go along that for a time. Then to 1.5 or so, until it’s finally what it needs to be:

ONE.

Fasting is really stupid. Biologically, humans have not been equipped for fasting for 50,000 years or so. Calorie reduction is the only way to lose weight.

Some old advise I got:

Never eat standing up
Never eat in front of the TV
Never eat after 6:00 p.m.
Never eat except at 4 hour intervals
Always be able to itemize what you consumed that day

Not a cure all, but it helps to keep things on track

I do a combo of the 5:2, and the 18/6. I’m not militant and I used to wrestle, so not eating doesn’t bother me. I also drink beer and wine.

I’m down around 25 lbs. in the last 3 months.

It’s also been great for my psoriasis.

I eat once a day. Lost 35 lbs in 4 weeks. Now lifting weights in the morning, and kick boxing in the evening. Body is getting ripped. It’s been an amazing transformation. Went from 38 inch waist to 32 inches.

According to Panda, time-restricted eating is based on the science of circadian rhythms, which control every hormone.

It is also based on basic metabolism of lipoprotein lipase, hormone sensitive lipase and insulin.

What is the Difference Between Lipoprotein Lipase and Hormone Sensitive Lipase

Time restricted eating allows Lipase to break down fats. Carbohydrate intake any time prior to a 12 hour fasted states shuts down this natural fat burning.
