Out of curiosity, if the guy commits suicide in the next couple weeks, will you then accept that he didn’t do it on purpose?
That is not the point. The point is that children are 100% human beings even while under the care of their parents, and deserve equal justice under the law if they die as a result of their caregiver’s negligence.
As earlier noted, if he had run over or heat-stroked someone else’s children, he would have been prosecuted. The court can take his grief into account. However, full discovery should be done, and it can’t be done if everyone tries to take the law into their own hands and send him off with a sympathy card and a hug.
Muslims determine when they will inflict honor killings or given an excuse to rapists by a family decree. Americans are supposed to use due process under the rule of law. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
