This would be correctly written as

-— (2+2) = 16
2

The whole issue is whether or not multiplication is a higher precedence than division. It isn’t; they are at the same level and are done left to right.

This^^^^^. Simply put, read it like a sentence. 8 divided by 2 times 2+2.

By rewriting it as a fraction, the answer becomes more clear.

For clarity the equation should be like this 8 / (2(2+2))
