The normal autopilot has an circuit breaker that can be pulled, but not so for the Boeing/Honeywell Uninterruptible Autopilot. Hence the name.

Then it isn't an autopilot, and is a misnomer. It is a remote control device. Neither the pilot nor the aircraft systems are maintaining the flight conditions.

The aircraft systems are dynamically controlled by a flight plan being played out by an external, autonomous computer, by a physically-distant human, or both, in combination with feedback from the plane in flight.

Other than the unusualness of the externalized nature of the autopilot, the term seems apropos to me.
