The state should be a representation of the people’s will, the aspirations of the dominant culture. I support the nationalist movements in Europe, though America is a different story. American exceptionalism has brought our attempts to install “democratic” governments in the states our government has destabilized in the Middle East, so I do not support such sentiments being expressed in national policy.
