There are both legitimate AND illegitimate uses for a great many things. Do decry or ban something because of its possible illegitimate uses, thereby destroying also the plans of those relying on its legitimate uses is, I believe, immoral, and it is precisely in this arena that we see government as the most pernicious of bad actors.

In review, I don’t see much substantiation for a review of that possibility; OP has tracked the convo and it’s many branches quite well, providing thoughtful responses indicative of a functioning cerebral cortex; something just NOT found in any actual troll on record.
There is also an exhibited advanced use of language, structures and content in replies indicating advanced education in a mindframe not wholly conformant to the preferences of the typical University Professor of Humanities ideological profile.
There is cause to have hope for this one.
