I know a retired MD (call her Consuelo) who performed abortions when she was a senior medical student back in 1970, when it was legal in NY but illegal in most of the rest of the country.

She's prolife now, and has been for most of her adult life.

Part of her conversion to prolife was this: she told her professor that abortions gave her a troubled feelings. The professor said they all had unsettled feelings at first. BUT, he said, it helped to kind of fool yourself emotionally about what you were doing.

Just think that the fetuses are pieces of meat. And the woman are animals.

That's what got to her. She thought, "If you have to dehumanize everyone --- the "fetus," the pregnant woman, and even yourself --- uh-uh, whoa, this can't be right.
