I have been there many times and the Chinese and Japanese are there in droves. Before I went the first time I read James Michners book “Hawaii” to get at least a modicum of history of how it all started. They had a History of warring on each other until they finally got pulled together, and still there were intrigues

If we had not been there in WW@ the Japanese would have used it like and Island Air and naval base and they would have been toast like others that fell in that time

I lived in HI for about 13 years but not all in one go. First time in `1969 or 70. Different world then. Lived on Kauai and Maui but not for a very long time, mostly on Oahu and Big Island.
