I sought some description of the event as the Dissolution of the Kingdom or the Despoilation of the Kingdom but no such luck. Overthrow is the term most used.
I was preapred to stop there when my search resulted in an article from an Hawaiian source about a lawsuit on behalf the "Kingdom" against the Trump Administration.
(I know there is a FReeper following this. Perhaps he'll contribute what he knows.)
The plan is to claim status for native Hawaiians similar to that of American Indians. I haven't followed this effort but I did begin reading the article and found this curious nugget:

He was born in the Hawaiian Kingdom to an American mother and a Kenyan father. As such, he was born an American citizen by parentage—jus sanguinis, but not as a natural born citizen—jus soli.
I truly don't know what to make of it but in light of recent Fuddy/birth certificate comments I thought I'd add it to the pile.

Since 0bola wasn’t born in HI and his parents aren’t the public ones, it doesn’t matter about Hawaiian kingdom/not. Anyway HI was a protectorate then or something of that nature. Not a kingdom any more except in some peoples’ minds.
There are very few full Hawaiians and many people are a tiny part Hawaiian. Hawaii is a very corrupt state. Run by very bad people and huge $ interests. It could be so much better.
