The eyes of google are upon you...

When first upgraded to phons with GPS, I told everyone, they are tracking you! Many would turn the phone off when at lunch or after work. Oh, I had fun with that !!!

I have never used the GPS on my phone, ever.

I have never enabled google location tracking, and about 2x yearly I reconfirm that it’s still off.

I’m completely sure that doesn’t quite do the trick, though.

Like the majority of us here, I’m glad we’re at the tail end of our careers, rather than just beginning!

Another reason NOT to go along with the “bring your own device” to work trend.

A case could be made that they are creating a “hostile” work environment.

I have never read about it, but I believe there is something that is called “social lubricant” in a work environment.

That is the interaction with people (and customers) that are not directly productive. It is the sharing of information and allows bonding. People are more likely to go out of their way to help people they like (and the opposite is true).

I think bad things happen when a company concentrates on the bottom line and ignores everything else.

One good example I have seen (and read about) is the way they treat “dead wood”. That is the employee that has been there the longest and has seen all the changes and more importantly can remember how to “fix” the old stuff. I call this dead wood the CORPORATE MEMORY. With out it a company often has to re-invent the wheel since no one remembers how to keep the old one working.

In the end, an employee can help a company grow or they can destroy it (just by following the rules as they are written).

I just read the entire WSJ article using some paywall-defeat javascript solution posted here on FR a couple months ago. It really works well

It is really a frightening article. It lists many companies selling “people analytics” solutions and how companies are using them to keep tabs on employees, frequently in the name of building “high performance teams.”

Thanks for posting.

The DNC is probably doing this to weed out anyone who might be disloyal to The Party.

One very important thing we need, is a Federal law preventing employers from looking at an employee’s or prospective employee’s social media, and also preventing employers from taking any disciplinary action against an employee based on any social media post or video. This is absolutely necessary in 2019!

A couple of decades ago my wife gave me Flip Phone and a start up with a provider.

Only she, our adult children and my mother had the number.

My company and boss found out and wanted the number. I told them when they bought and paid for a new cell phone and the monthly bill, they could have the number. They never did.

A couple of years later, I got an early retirement with a good package. Part of the package was a new free cell phone and free on line service with a new phone every 2 years.

I gave the phone unopened back to my soon to be former boss and said no thank you. Then, they mailed the phone to my home, and I UPSed it back using the company prepaid UPS number.

Then, other retired reps found out why they got a “free” phone, they got calls at all hours from their replacements wanting help. Within a year most retired reps sent their “free” phones back.

The company switched to Office 365 and our email goes thru Microsoft servers now. We also use Sharepoint for files.
We also have a company Facebook page.
I have noticed that anything I view is recorded. It will show when someone views a document, not just you.
Example: John Smith last viewed file at 2:09pm
The company Facebook page also tracks viewing,

This is creepy.

I’m watched and recorded every second I’m at work, and what’s worse, my supervisors sit there and watch and listen and then report you for any violations.

But hey, if I want to murder my baby, I have a right to privacy!

They were tracking you long before that. You can still get an approximate location based on tower connection. No GPS required.

Boss Spying goes two ways.

Cowardly Human Resources who hate America and enforce conformity to nonsense, should be shamed.

Cowardly Human Resources are failures to competition necessary to survive.

Throw it back in their ignorant face. Surrender monkeys don’t win.

Shame them. It is necessary to win.
