Me too. A new day and, while I would like to have gotten more sleep, a good start. Began the antibiotics last night... hope springs eternal. :) Thanks. Happy Fourth!

Well, folks, the hospital called to report that my blood work does show gram positive bacilli, which translates: Yes, I DO have sepsis!

Please put a gold star next to my name today for insisting that my Dr write script(s) for antibiotics before the holiday weekend. Both Cipro and Flagyl (metronidazole) are effective against gram positive bacilli. Hopefully by tomorrow I will know what the pathogen is and whether the antibiotics will be adequate to the task.

If there is any return of fever or return of extreme fatigue symptoms I will ask the Starship Enterprise to immediately transport me to the hospital ER. If I should disappear from the thread for a few days that is probably where I will be {at the ER, not the Enterprise.}

I appreciate all the response regarding diverticulitis - and it remains a possibility, I suppose - but I want to be clear that I used that diagnosis as a ploy to force my Dr's office to write Rx for antibiotics going in to the long holiday weekend. Sepsis can be deadly and should not be trifled with.

I hope to be around over the weekend and be as caustic as ever. :^D
