The reason g00gle became so popular in the first place was that the analytic engine that collated and reported search results was superior to other search engines. Today ... not so much. In addition to the political crap they are doing, so many sites have figured out how to game the google bots, that it's a
lot less useful than it used to be.
The entire point of a search engine is to find things. If they can't be trusted for that, or someone does the job better, they'll go the way of Altavista. Does anyone remember them?

Altavista. Does anyone remember them?Sure do. Late 1990s, early 2000s. Bought out by Yahoo if my memory serves. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Google is scrubbing them from its search results. Kind of defeats the whole purpose and idea behind a "search engine".

I just recently switched browsers from Chrome to Brave and am quite happy how much faster it is.
I use Bing for search engines.

Thank you! I have been a user of DuckDuckGo for probably four years, but I think, because Goober is such an insidious part of the Interwebs, I will change to Mojeek.
Goober even tells me where I drive every month and I don’t think that’s even one bit clever. I think I’ll disable it from my phone and try and find hard copies of local maps...

Privacy Bump! Thanks.
Re: Mojeek
The drop down search box saves your searches so if the little lady is over your shoulder on a search a previous search for “Jennifer Anniston Bikini” will be right there on your 27” screen.
No easy fix yet. Just FYI. ;-)

Because Microsoft is pulling support for the Windows 10 phone, I got a Motorola Z4. I’m forced to use Google maps, otherwise I installed everything Microsoft. I really miss the maps. I removed Google search.
I can attach “mods” to the back of the phone like JBL speakers or an extra battery. That’s a Motorola innovation, and it’s brilliant. It also syncs to my Surface.

Nah, I still use a flip phone, 3 G. I am of the mind that a phone is for making telephone calls. That’s it!

Ill disable it from my phone and try and find hard copies of local maps...Triple A (AAA) has local paper maps. But there's a yearly membership fee.
There are other online sources for maps. Bing, Rand McNally, Open Streets, Mapquest, etc.

Use AAA maps. They rarely fail me. My next car will be pre2003, or earlier, no computer anything, no discs, no chips no anything, just an engine and a few car seats...oh and AAA maps...and my guns.
