Now that the last is in college she still cans and supplies her adult children “Christmas Food”.


The jelly/jams/fruit butters fly off the shelves, as do the pickled beets (strange they hate the store brand). I’ve always wondered if people realized the amount of tomatoes used by a family each year? I would say almost 50% of what you use is tomato based product in recipes, but I’m Italian so I may use more.

She left two jars of jam. Strawberry and strawberry rhubarb Make a couple of good PBJs

Her corn relish is the best. And bread and butter pickes — makes my mouth water. Mom didn’t do any of these fancy cangoods. She got recipes from grandma and aunts that can. Always something good to eat on the shelves of her house. Her hubby took and old stairwell hall to the cellar and lined all the walls with shelves that just fit the jars. (2 deep). Stays cool because of being open to cellar
