I still listen to that song on my music. And a lot of other Richard Harris songs off his “A Tramp Shining”. I was in lust with his voice. And when he did “A Man Called Horse”, I had my first teenage, older man crush.

Richard Harris and Gregory Peck had a voice one couldn't forget. Gregory Peck when I asked him if I could take his picture....his voice was amazing and he was probably in his mid-sixties.
I believe no one wanted to touch the song because of the length of it and unusual lyrics. There might have been a bet involved with Jimmy and Richard and Richard turned the song into a hit.
