My point: There is no consistency in how these ‘terminus’ lines are shown in NASA photos of the earth from the moon in the same horizon shots. Upturned line, downturned line, straight line...just depends on the cgi artist interpretation, nothing from a real photo.

No, it depends on the positions of the earth, the sun, and the viewer, nothing more. Do a simple experiment, take a ball, then shine a light on it from various angles, and look at the ball from various angles. You will be able to produce with the resulting shadow an upturned line, a downturned line, and a straight line, depending on where you place the light source and where you look at the ball from.
