No, for decades the government wanted interest in UFOs suppressed so that the public did not become alarmed and start shooting at any unknown lights or shapes in the sky. Now the public widely and calmy accepts UFOs as real, advanced cameras and imaging technology make reliable evidence easier to obtain, and private sector spaceflight will soon open near earth space to exploration by non government organizations and individuals.
A slow reveal is now underway, with the public being gradually accustomed to UFOs being more than swamp gas and not visits from our space brothers. I surmise that it is more like we are seen as an interesting species, like those tortises on the Gallapagos -- and that we have as much to say about what happens to us as those tortises do as to our treatment of them.
