This is by design. It’s not an accident that his son was not interested.
My boyfriend’s sons are millennials. Smart and successful. When they were in their 30’s he figured the best gift he could give them was a well stocked toolbox to take care of those pesky home repairs. They looked at him like he had handed them a live grenade.
Go figure, he’s a contractor and they had watched him build and remodel numerous houses including a few of their family homes but to this day those tools sit untouched.
