The only way to stop this is for the Red States to get together in a common front and ban and pass laws to restrict any company that engages in these types of political boycott’s. If they won’t do business with Red States, the Red States should not do business with them. This is a civil war but only one side is shooting.
Well.... Bye!!!!
Good idea.
You have to remember that OH, LA, and MO essentially have heartbeat bills, that AL has strong anti-abortion laws, and that MI and IA have totally dropped all film credits.
So that’s seven states taken out of film consideration right away. Alaska, Idaho, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Minnesota are all too desolate or too cold for much of the year for filming, and while I could be wrong, I don’t think any of them have subsidies. WV doesn’t have great film subsidies. Neither do KY or TN or AR.
Nebraska? Cold and flat. IL and NY are good for urban shooting, but are union states. HA is ok, but incredibly expensive.
That basically leaves OR (too wet and overcast), AZ, NM, TX, MS, FL, VA, DE, MD, and RI.
NM has been ok for filming TV series (”Breaking Bad,” “In Plain Sight,” and parts of “Sicario”), but lacks the big city presence to do urban scenes. AZ has no film credits. RI, DE and MS are not urban enough and the first two are union states.
When you get right down to it, the states with good shooting weather, a variety of cities and space, and non-union workforces are scarce. Throw on top of that the need for film subsidies?
Good luck.
