Actually, I never said what I thought. I only said what the “rule of thumb” indicated. Maybe you should try applying some of that magical independent thought to things you read.

Hey man, everything is cool. Rule-of-thumb noted. NYT is one of many propagators of fake news. This story was re-published from 2017. Nothing new, just a distraction from Spygate. You are correct, NYT is regurgitating because they have lost the ability for critical thinking. Lost it when Trump became President. Peace.

That's why I told you this story was widely reported by many media sources, both domestic and international media sources, not just the NYT.
And speaking of independent thought...With this many players involved who are not only identified by times, dates and places but also the names of those involved, as well as the video/audio evidence in the report. That's a hell of a lot of information/data for this to simply be written off as a "fake" story, as you suggested, just because the NYT reported it.
In fact it's so much information my independent thought tells me for this story to be a fake, it would have to be an extremely elaborate fraud or fake. As it not only involving the NYT but media sources everywhere not to mention the Naval personnel who are named as well as their military aircraft radar/heads-up displays etc.
Think real hard about what it would take to fake this story/report with everything involved mentioned above.
Did the Navy call the report a fraud or fake? Did they demand the story be retracted? Did the Naval personnel named in the report deny any of it? No, none of that happened, did it?
Based on all of this, you seem to have no independent or critical thought.
