Unfortunately I have to watch ABC spews. The headline they are pushing at the bottom of the screen:

Mueller: Charging the President with a crime “Was not an option we could consider”.

Rehash of the same old, same old dud Mueller Report. My opinion is, even though we know there is nothing to the Mueller Report, they are playing it up like they always do, “it’s the seriousness of the charge” type of BS. Mueller did say he was going to resign his position at the DOJ and close up shop. That’s really the only thing new in this “breaking news”.

That's the line I heard on NPR this AM. Then they went into the "Conspiracy theories" floating around that there was deep state coup plot; "Utter nonsense" that the right wing is clinging to. Then the seque into the inevitable impeachment...

part of the problem is any constraints put on Mueller via the Special Counsel statute or by Barr. So why did he need to make a statement at all ?

(c) The Attorney General may determine that public release of these reports would be in the public interest, to the extent that release would comply with applicable legal restrictions.

All other releases of information by any Department of Justice employee, including the Special Counsel and staff, concerning matters handled by Special Counsels shall be governed by the generally applicable Departmental guidelines concerning public comment with respect to any criminal investigation, and relevant law.
