Seems I’ve read something that puts social media into the same category as utilities such as phone companies. Supposedly open to all. Still illegal to use the phone to make fake 911 calls, threats, etc. Other than that, people can use phone to say whatever they want.
So the social media outfits seem to fit into that category, and thus other than the rules they set, have no legal right to censor views they don’t like, that don’t break those rules.
And they lie about what they do, as well.
Change my mind.
Iirc, which is questionable, as soon as the social media companies began censoring, they fell under the rules and laws governing publishers, which sets them up for civil suits.
Not gonna attempt to change your mind as I concur with your thinking, pertaining to social media censorship. I also agree that “they lie about what they do.”
