Why sunflowers?
Where I grew up the farmers would plant corn one year & the next year beans to replenish the nitrogen in the soil. They would rotate every year. Well one year there must have been some study or something because a bunch of them planted sunflowers. For about the next 3 years the sunflowers would keep popping up & cutting out sunflowers while walking beans was a lot harder than regular weeds. They never planted sunflowers again.
I made a giant wooden sunflower on small red barn where other people put their wooden quilt square. We use the seed for the birds. They never sees themselves here. The birds eat the seed
