I hope everyone has been able to enjoy Spring migration, when it finally decided to become somewhat Spring-like.
Lifer Golden-Winged Warbler
American Redstart - male
Bay-breasted Warbler
Trumpeter Swan
Blackburnian Warbler - male
Eastern Screech-Owl - red-morph
A week later Eastern Screech-Owl - grey morph in same cavity. Someone else photographed both in the hole together shortly after.
What a great idea! Super job getting the swallows a new home, well done!
Thanks, that coconut fiber is perfect, lets air through to keep things dry. Lots of traffic today with the parent birds, trying to keep everyone fed. Meanwhile we lost a bluebird nest late yesterday with 5 eggs to wrens. Bummer!
My parents have a barn with lots of swallows. I always liked barn swallows. Their chirping, beauty, and bug-eating is a bonus.
The tree sallow has one sing that sounds like water bubbling, we have enjoyed that for years. Plus they are not too afraid of us.
That nest is awesome!
