I had a Blue ‘65 Galaxy, darn thing went though transmissions like $$$$ through a goose. Finally gave up and traded it in on a 1971 Ford Torino that was $1475 in 1973. I traded that one in on a new 1975 Ford Grand Torino Elite and trade in value was $1495.

IIRC the 1975 Grand Torino was about $5500. My choice at that same price was a 1974 Thunderbird with a bunch o’ miles or a brand new Grand Torino. (Only new car I ever bought)

Nephew and a buddy totaled the Torino several years later.

Humph, the Internet found a used one for sale about 120 miles from me at $9,995 with 90,000 miles. (must have had a sale on 9’s today)

I still mourn that the engine of my first car — a yellow 1970 Mercury Cougar with a 351 Windsor V-8 — gave up the ghost and I unloaded it for a pittance. As it is, I now drive a comfortable, economical 2016 Honda with four cylinders that is a gem of automotive engineering. Yet I still miss my old Cougar with its big engine, rear wheel drive, and roar under acceleration.
