Imo, “journalism” is a prisoner of the personality type that’s interested in being employed in that industry in the first place.
From the earliest selection phase, such as high school “newspaper”, it’s the busybodies, and know-it-alls that are so arrogant in their blatant ignorance that it’s impossible not to laugh in their faces when confronted by them.
Then by college, ,the sorting is for those that’re willing to prostitute themselves to their editors for column inches and lie through their teeth for that “front page above the fold” slot for a story that they make up from whole cloth.
And it’s that story that lands them their first job.
