I took him more in the vein of Dr. Hynek and hard science on the UFO issue than anything. Trying to explain an event through logical means but following where the evidence led even if it was not accepted by the scientific community.
There are apparently military channels that collect UFO reports and avoid any public accounting of the results. My guess is that within ten to twenty years, new imaging and automated analysis technologies will make it possible for civilians to scan the skies on a comprehensive basis, both from the ground and from orbit. When that happens, official obfuscation will no longer be effective. Supposedly, the US and other countries adopted a policy of secrecy as a way to buy time until we had a defense capability against hostile UFOs. That time is said to be near.
