But rather than attack Hirono — I really want to know what happened to all of the foreign born living in Hawaii when the Territory became a state. What was the procedure? There was a mmix of residents — some US citizens, some Territorial natives, and some immigrants (like Hirono). How did they handle it.

I am old enough that I should remember, but I don’t. And a quick search doesn’t provide an answer.
