Until I was age eight we had an “ice box”. I remember riding with my dad to the “ice house” to buy another block of ice about every two days. He would carry it to the car with ice tongs.To this day I still call convenience stores an ice house and I still have the tongs my dad used. The memories!

Wow.....what a TREASURE to have those same tongs.

Thank you for sharing that.

My great uncle worked at a (real) ice house. They had a huge storage room, full of....ice....freezing cold, in there!!

We’d stop by, on our way in to town, and he’d chip of pieces of ice for us. We thought that was the coolest thing and treat!! ICE...lol.
