Did you try "restore"? It sometimes work. It is simple and it doesn't take long.

Here is one of many link that shows you how to do it.

It has saved me more than once.

For several reasons it may not work, but odds are in your favorite.

Also, after this, you need to do a regular full computer backup to another hard drive. This is what backups are for. Found out how to do it.
