I can’t understand why there are no episodes of My Mother the Car on the list...
8 of the top ten were must watch in my home at that time. Have to check out the entire list!
Thanks!
“Turkeys Away” is OK, but my vote would go to “An Explosive Affair”, the one where terrorists plant a bomb at the transmitter site, featuring Johnny Fever at his paranoid finest.
WKRP in Cincinnati - the Turkey Drop. “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!”
Geeze, I’m always late to the party... Shoulda read the rest of the thread! Lol.
Has TV guide watched TV in the past twenty years? There has to be something that was OK. Can’t think of it off the top of my head—but there must be SOMETHING.
I don’t think the “The Parking Garage” (one of two Seinfeld choices) was even in the top 30 of my favorite Seinfeld episodes. I forget which of the 1950’s horror shows (The Twilight Zone, etc.) it was on, but “The Hitchhiker” episode was my all-time favorite in that genre. A young woman driving from New York to California keeps seeing the same old man hitchhiking all the way across the country.
> Seinfeld, The Outing <
Ah, yes. Great episode. But as Seinfeld himself said, you can’t do that sort of edgy comedy anymore. Because if just one snowflake somewhere gets offended, all hell breaks loose.
And there is something wrong with that.
And then I see that this is from the first 50 years of TV. So, there is the answer to my question.
The Rifleman was more than just a western. It was also a morality play.
I still watch it for that reason. I pointed out to my wife this would NEVER make it to the TV these days. Closest to it my mind is blue bloods.
The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show 2/9/1964
Star Trek original series - City On the Edge of Forever
Mork and Mindy made the list but not a single episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer - which is on virtually every list as one of the greatest tv shows ever...now I know this is bogus.
Three Buffy Episodes in no particular order:
The Body
Hush
Once More with Feeling

Since you asked, here’s one recent TV episode that I enjoy watching over and over again. It’s only seven minutes long, but it’s a real classic. I think you might enjoy it.

Breaking Bad should have at least one episode on that list.
My favorite STar Trek TOS is The Changeling- impeccable logic. Even Spock is impressed!
1. The Jack Benny Show and the Bob Hope Show. Tied
2. The Groucho Marxs Show:
Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.
Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read.
I must say I find television very educational. The minute somebody turns it on, I go to the library and read a good book.
3. The Honeymooners
4 I Remember Mama:
I remember the big white house on Steiner Street, and my little sister Dagmar, and my big brother Nels, and Papa. But most of all, I remember Mama. Mostly broadcast live; only 13 shows were taped.
All the rest on the list are also-rans
TV Guide sux.
There were so many great Twilight Zones, but this one isn't the best of them. My personal favorites are "A Stop at Willoughby," "The Howling Man," and "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street."
KITT’s evil twin was called “KARR”.
Personally, I liked the “Goliath” episodes better, because even though Goliath wasn’t autonomous, it was capable of defeating KITT physically.
Then I went and actually read the post. These were from the first “5 decades” of TV. The list was written in 1997. So, literally, nothing from the past 22 seasons of TV.
Breaking Bad, GOT, Walking Dead, and the whole start of streaming shows would be on the list today.
Not picking a single episode, but BB is a good choice. The second to last episode and the4 finale were instant classics.
