As part of her signature “Be Best” initiative, First Lady Melania Trump is encouraging families across the country to educate their children about the realities and dangers of drug use, especially the opioid epidemic.
She’s had those same conversations with her own son, 12-year-old Barron Trump, she said Tuesday at an opioid crisis town hall in Las Vegas hosted by Eric Bolling.

“I teach him,” Melania told Bolling about Barron. “I try to explain how drugs are dangerous and it will mess up your head, it will mess up your body and nothing comes positive out of it.”
Melania, 48, appeared at the Vegas event as part of a two-day, three-state tour in support of “Be Best,” which is focused on children’s welfare, including anti-bullying efforts.

I'm not sure talk alone has the power to keep a child from the horrors of drugs and alcohol, but closeness with parents is a good start.
Scary time to be a child...or an adult for that matter.
As Trump has said, sometimes purpose in life (doing something you really love and value) seems to be a way of avoiding the pitfalls of drugs and alcohol.
One of many things I admire about our lovely Melania is her dedication to Barron. She has been totally hands on.
This is a woman who could have had all the nannies she wanted, but chose to parent her own son.
There is quite a lot of overlap.
Every Saturday night during and after dinner, we listen to Natalie Cole’s ‘Unforgettable’ CD on the Bose. I was lamenting how sad it was that Natalie died so young......and the loss of such a wonderful voice as hers. My husband said ‘she used drugs for a long time back in the day. Drug use is very hard on your body. Perhaps had she not been a drug user she would have lived longer’. Sad, but true. Drug use is very destructive to your body and often the destruction doesn’t surface for years.
Melania said you do not want to end up like Joe Biden and his kids.
I think it’s safe to assume Melania saw the destructive effects of drugs firsthand during her career as a model. I hope someday she writes her autobiography.
