I visited Campi Flegrei a couple years ago. It definitely is an active caldera, smoking and hot. The surface just feels thin, and gives under ones feet. An unsettling sensation..

I went to Naples and Ercolano a few years ago, I just kept thinking the whole time that one day this is all going to be buried just like Pompeii was.
