I have thought along those lines as well; but Biden could never beat Trump in the General. More likely he gets offed just to generate the sympathy vote for his female, non-white running mate, whoever that may be - "Remember poor old Joe and vote for XX".
With the right VP candidate (Who would not have to win, or even run in, the primary) it could work.

I think they are trying to get one candidate in there that satisfies every part of their intersectional “quilt”, if you will, and then they are going to go about the process of homogenizing the elements of each of them into one bland candidate. They always act radical early on when there are no consequences, but tack center when it gets closer to reality.
