Quite a saga. I know what you mean about carrying your sense of humor with you at all times - NOT a concealed carry by any means. Health care is on the decline now; I suppose because of 0bamy Care.
My son is an RN case mgr at a local ER. They keep seeing the same patients again and again with the same (minor) maladies... insist on being admitted... no money of course, most of them. Hospital beds all full -- don't show up with a massive MI because all beds are taken.
I suspect they all think it is now free with the Affordable Care Act. sigh

In the new healthcare, everyone gets a bandaid for free. If it doesn’t cover it they don’t either.
All kidding aside, don’t let the miscommunication get you down and frustrated. Unfortunately, you are your best advocate and you are blessed to have your son. Imagine if you didn’t.
I’m fortunate that my wife is a retired medical coder with part of her job being making insurance claims fly, recovering money, and explaining it all, and dealing with all the inside people whether insurance industry, providers, doctors etc.
You’ll be fine. You’ll see. :)
