That's the whole point of them, to keep the child in an area from which they cannot get out. When they are able to then they no longer are worth having. They seem to have found a solution, by stacking and up against a wall that has a low sloping ceiling.

I do not see any lock and key, and from what I can see of the kids they do not look malnourished or abused. But I honestly can't see them well enough to be sure about abuse, but I think I see enough of them to know they are far from being malnourished.

I am not saying that these parents are blameless, especially if they indeed had a honey oil lab (at least it wasn't a meth lab though - as they are extremely dangerous). But nothing reported or pictures provided have convinced me that these parents were abusive of neglectful to their children. Doesn't mean that the aren't abusive and/or neglectful, just means that the news article and pictures have not convinced me that is the case. Not nearly enough information for me to start getting all righteous. If it is proven that they are, then I hope they get the book thrown at them, and that the boys will find responsible loving homes to grow up in.

To me this is a much more horrible case:

Police, FBI confirm they've found a body in case of Illinois boy, parents charged with murder

My kids wanted play dog so I put them in the crate.

They had a great time laughing and barking.

Here's another article on that story I posted earlier.

What I am unable to determine is how someone is charged with 5 counts of murder when all I am reading about is the murder of one 5 year old boy.

Kids can enjoyment from the darndest things. I remember a cousin who was a toddler and I was a young adult, and he loved the box the toys came in more than the toys. It was a fairly large box that I was able to make a slide out of and he would slide down the box. Entertained him for hours with that box.

They probably sent their kids to public school and had to do SOMETHING to get them under control after they got home.

Pot is now legal in CA. so what they were doing was NOT illegal, and maybe they just needed to make sure the kids didn’t get into anything CAGES NOT these are cribs and the kids look fine!!! BUT these parents owned firearms and in CA. they might as well be 2 cartel members!!!

My guess is mom and dad were leaving the tikes at home alone while they both went out. No excuse.

Production of hash-oil involves volatile chemicals and heat. Securing the kids could have been for everyone’s safety.

A drug lab for making hash oil from pot. People mainly do it nowadays because they are making the oil to put in vape pens, as that is becoming a more popular way to ingest THC instead of burning your lungs up smoking it.

“But I am sure you were not locked up in your playpens so you could not get out.”

What are you talking about? Who is going to buy a playpen that a child can just let himself out of?

“Reading about it sounds like too much trouble to produce.”

Well, probably you are reading about some high-tech method they are using to maximize efficiency.

When I was in high school, we managed to accomplish it with a stovetop, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, a cooking pot, an old soup can and a coffee filter. Stunk the house up to high heaven, but it got the job done.

Heck, I used to flip my laundry hamper, put it on my head and go around pretending I was R2-D2.

Yeah I certainly wasn’t viewing them like cages. I mean most of us are old enough to remember play pens and/or cribs. We were in them and then our children were in them. Certainly didn’t look nefarious to me. While I know that pot is legal in Ca. not sure what the law is regarding making hash oil, but doing that is probably not good for the kids. Not if smoking cigs are not healthy, even though both my parents smoked. My sister never smoked, but I certainly got the habit. But I thought the article was a much to do about nothing. No doubt the guns are the real issue here depending on where they live in Ca. I assume.
