Yes, that is one of the stone markers I was referring to.
It is right near hotel Viking in downtown Newport, RI.

The Runestone markings show that the Vikings landed there. They think that the Narraganset Indians drove them out. That they never really established settlements this far south. There is also evidence in Bourne, Mass(western Cape Cod) that the Vikings passed through there on the way to RI.

There does not seem to be any evidence that they went south or west of RI. Apparently the Narraganset Indians were pretty much bad A$$es. I guess they were kind of like the Comanche or Apache of New England.
