Do not tell me Barr is a weakling, too.
Not sure where he’s (Barr) backing off his claim
I’m giving Barr the benefit of the doubt in his phrasing. Remember, he’s overseeing the INVESTIGATIVE phase, and even though the spying against Trump happened, Barr has to use the “alleged” terminology and phrasing in formal or official capacity until such evidence is formalized and presented for indictment to a grand jury.
So far, Barr has been on track with playing a fair hand with regard to this most outrageous domestic coup attempt in American history. There may be a time where he will go John Roberts on us, but based on his actions, and Trump’s learning curve of being able to pick personnel not tied to the swamp, I feel a bit more confident than I did a month ago.
The only weaklings here are people who trust yahoo news spin on Barrs testimony
Read the article. I saw nothing in it, not a quote or anything where Barr backed off, or attempted to back off his original comment. Just journalistic wishful thinking.
No. Listen or watch the hearing. He is answering in a lawyerly specific way to the questions asked. He still thinks there was spying
He said he needs to investigate if the spying was legit. I don’t read that as backing off.
Barr did not back off. I watched the interchange. He almost sneeringly stated that he was not sure of what all of the triggering nuances of spying might be and then said maybe he might have used the term unauthorized surveillance; which is one of the definitions of spying.
He did not back off of the spying charge; he just used a different set of words that define spying and the idiot questioning him accepted that definition of spying.
The press is saying he backed off and they are too stupid to know that he just used a different definition of the same criminal acts.
Do not tell me Barr is a weakling, too.
This is fake news - Barr didnt back off anything. He said he believed there was spying - and that he planned look into whether or not it was predicated (justified, legal).
Im sure Barr knows the spying was illegal, since the FISA warrant was illegally based on the Steele dossiere, which was known at the time to be a fabrication paid for by the Clinton campaign - a fact not made known to the FISA courts.
But Barr had nothing to gain by making those allegations before the committee until he has built the case. So he stuck to the facts: there was spying, but it remains to be seen whether or not it was legal. I think this was just the right position for Barr to take before a hostile committee at this time.
The fake news said Barr backed off in order to imply that his original statement (that there was spying) was half-cocked. He didnt back off anything.
