My taxes went down considerably as well. I think the problem with this issue is that the people that live in extremely high tax states have lost some of the subsidy that those of us in flyover country have never enjoyed - a subsidy in the form of deducting state/local taxes that in effect forces us to pay more because we aren't being smothered as badly on the state and local level as they are.
The correct solution isn't to blame Trump or the federal government - the solution is to fix their own state's taxing policy. Why does it cost so much more to live in, say, New York state or Ohio compared to Georgia, Florida, or Tennessee?
