I read that he has been charged with a very minor offense. Also that the extradition treaty with UK specifies that no additional charges my be brought after extradition.

Thanks! Seems I read something about that too. If I remember correctly it goes back to 2010 or a bit later?? I am glad you found the tidbit on no additional charges after extradition.
When they indict in situations like this, they drop one indictment to arrange for the extradition; the one they are most certain they can get him on. I recall reading about that technique when they dropped one count on Awan to prevent him fleeing the country.
