Lori Loughlin could now face up to 40 years in jail after new charges
Tough spot for ambitious helicopter parents who only have a few million dollars. Top universities with billion dollar endowments aren't going to admit students for a few million dollars in donations - they expect buildings to be constructed if you want to get your kid in legally.
I have zero sympathy for this woman, her husband or their dullard children, but 40 years seems excessive - plenty of murderers are walking around free after doing far less time.

"Uh, right... Phil. In Mr. Melon's defense, it was a really big check."

Her crime was not being rich or famous enough. How is it that it’s OK for the Kennedys to all go to Harvard because ol Joe bought their way in, or Malia Obama because she’s Obama’s kid. How about Chelsea Clinton at Stanford? Does anyone seriously think these people got in on their own merit or was it because of legacy admissions, big donations, or affirmative action for that matter? None of these are any less crooked than what Loughlin did, they’re just the accepted way of backdooring your way in. She just didn’t have the money to bribe the right people so she’s got to be made an example.
