It’s a continuum. Some people present crap either because they have bad judgement, believe crap, or are lying for ulterior motives. Often such people add bits of fact to lure people, in fact they usually do.
Some present truth as best they know it sincerely but are not perfect. Some people are ill motivated, and some well motivated. Some more connected, some less, some dumber, some smarter.
“Trust no one” is a bit broad. I trust no one implicitly, or 100%, but I certainly can’t see everything with my own eyes live or on video or see original documents and so on and so forth. Therefore some people I trust somewhat, depends on who and what topic or issue, and if it can be verified.
Track records count. If someone comes up with crap regularly, I don’t read or listen to them any more. Doesn’t take a lot of times.
