This is the annual educational technology conference sponsored by Arizona State University and Global Silicon Valley (a venture capital and consulting firm, with a strong focus on edtech). I used to go to this conference, but have missed it the past few years.
This year's conference started today, and the keynotes are being broadcast live on YouTube. The first talk was by Harvard Professor Tal Ben-Shahar, one of the academic gurus of what it takes to be happy. The second session was a conversation between ASU President Michael Crow and Cindy McCain, with Michael asking Cindy how to make the world a better place. Cindy's hot topic is human trafficking, of all things.
The keynote roster for this conference makes this a major cabalist meeting place. It includes Tony Blair, Priscilla Chan (Zuck's other half), Karl Rove, Deval Patrick, Andre Agassi, Common. Past speakers have included Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Arne Duncan, George W. Bush, Condaleeza Rice, Penny Pritzker.
These are the folks who want to determine the future of technology in education.
