Of course closing the border will cause economic hardship. But keeping it open with invaders pouring in like the Niagra Falls is not only tremendous economic hardship but murder, rape and drug crime hardship!

If it does not cause hardship to Mexico, then it's a worthless exercise in the first place.
I doubt very much that the USA will experience economic devastation over a closed Mexican border. Mexico will hurt way before we do.
If we are not eating avocados, Mexico is watching them rot - how does that hurt us?
If we are not driving Mexican made cars, then Mexico is watching them rust - and we have plenty of cars. Perhaps it is possible a USA company using Mexico as cheap labor - now THAT is hurting us, so closing the border is still fine by me.
