Im not going to do my standard rant. I do wish more people understood how socialist ag policy & trade, along with a number of our stances regarding invasive species, are intended to weaken and undermine America. I dont believe for a second that simple greed is the answer to why so many complicated issues lead seemingly intentionally to the same result. Plant those avocados! Kill the grass, do edible landscaping. Get involved in (responsible) guerilla gardening, especially perennials. Support innovative local ag when economically feasible...
Over the years Ive read story after story about ridiculous price spikes in [insert domestic ag product] “all across the country” except that the price on chicken or whatever never jumped here. I always suspected that those stories might have been believable to urban dwellers but that you couldnt raise the price on rurals because they would just make/grow/raise their own. Things changed under Obama. We were getting hammered in the store just like everyone else. I dont know for sure what the differences were but Im going to do whatever I can to resist being a victim of that game. Ive grown and raised a lot of a lot of different things over the years and just give the finger to every “real farmer” that laughs at my “hobby farm” because “Youre too small to make it” as he heads to the bank to get another loan.
I hear you!
If I could only talk my wife into slaughtering the chickens! Once we get to our new house I’m going to raise cattle. Maybe more. She already knows the deal there.
