You must be more in the desert area? Have you read the Deputy Ricos series by Elizabeth A. Garcia? They are really good describing the area of Terlingua. A friend knows the author and she had Elizabeth sign one of her books for me. The books really explain the area and the people who decided to live there.

I haven’t read the books. I have been to Terlingua many times during my first life in Texas. I lived in Alpine and worked on ranches in that area. Last of the wild west.

I live in West Texas, but not far from the beginning of central Texas. So we have water and agriculture along with sheep and cattle. I think cotton is the main crop, but a lot of other things are grown here, like pecans.
