When I go to Hawaii the first thing I do is hit a Taco Bell and fill up my purse with Fire Sauce. Its hard to find real salsa there. And I eat it on everything.
Hawaii has killer mango salsa
I don’t know that this saved anything but either I or the counter help (they usually do the most) load me up with packets at the fast food places. Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, McD.
This afternoon I used the last 1/2 of the Velveeta to make some nacho cheese. Everyone uses Rotel but I went a little different.
In a saucepan, melted some butter, added some white onions and let that brown for a bit, then a can of Red Gold diced tomatoes with green chilies. Added some onion powder, some garlic salt, just a little pepper and some regular salt. Brought that to a gentle boil.
Then I diced the 1/2 brick of Velveeta into 1-inch cubes (maybe 1/2 inch thick) and added it to the saucepan. Lowered the heat to about 3/10 and let it roll.
Later, I took a can of chili beans and put it in another saucepan, added 2 packages of McD ketchup, 3 Taco Bell sauce and 1 Taco Bell fire sauce. Brought that to a gentle boil.
Put some over tortilla chips and add some cheese.
Not saying it’s gourmet, just relatively cheap (The Velveeta was on sale for $7 BUT you got a free bag of chips which made it like $4.50.
Tonight at Wal*Mart I picked up a small pepper (maybe Hatch of Jalapeno) - 7 cents, LOL. I’ll do a bit of chopping tomorrow for my nachos then. Still got most of the cheese and more than 1/2 the beans.
Oh yeah, real fine dining, LOL.
