EMP or just explosion?
Wouldn’t out INTELSATs have caught it, and news been leaked before now?
Any thoughts?

Russian seems to attract more than its share of exploding space objects.

If it were a meteor it would have exploded due to the speed and friction.

If it were a nuke, the radiation would have been picked up by civilian monitors in the Pacific Northwest and Canada. The radiation would have made it around the world in a matter of days. Its very difficult to hide an nuke that high up in the atmosphere.

This stuff happens fairly often, albeit not this large. The reason we never hear about it is that the world is covered with oceans and most of the rest of it is not inhabited—and its night time.
