Everybody always says this. Companies will raise prices to offset taxes IF THEY CAN but that depends on the elasticity of demand for the product. Some products, if they raise prices, consumers will stop buying or find alternatives for. Then their choices are to cut costs or lose money.

Thank you very much, Ichabod1, for inserting the science of economics where it is much needed.
Those of us who have been involved in product/marketing/pricing decisions are fully aware the the price elasticity of demand is a REAL THING--a very predictable and dependable result of price changes in the marketplace.

NOTE to Skypilot: You also make valid points. It is a harsh reality of electoral politics that certain Blue State Taxpayers got the shaft ... sort of a triage effect ... but also hoping the capitalist voters such as yourself will take back their states ... eventually ... sigh.
Thanks.
Thank goodness you pinged the troll to the new thread and brought thier slide with you.
What are you thinking?
Really?
I hate to say this because it sounds crass but, the ‘blue’ corpse states got sweet treatment all through the Obama years whilst the red states were ‘punished’ for not supporting him. Elections have consequences! We One!
Conservatives in blue states were kind of free riding on the blue wave the whole time. Thass hokay! The commie blue rats in the Red states got punished along with all us deplorables under Barry. It all comes out in the wash!
