The SLS was out dated the first time SpaceX landed a rocket vertically. We need to scrap it. It is time all the other launch system companies got on board with 21st century technology. The SLS was always life support for the remnant industry that had supported the space shuttle. But it has had the effect of institutionalizing the past. The more the old guard digs in, or gets supported by big contracts, the farther ahead companies that are actually innovating will get.

“SpaceX landed a rocket vertically”

All that money AND blood spent on the reusable Space Shuttle, and then SpaceX does that. I am not involved at all with the space program, and I still felt a little embarrassed by our folly.

“The SLS was out dated the first time SpaceX landed a rocket vertically. “

Nonsense.

Space X has never shown heavy lift capability. Yeah,. they have it on the drawing board, but no such capability has ever been shown.

Then they would have to take their launch system through manned certification.

Yep. Save the money.
14 Billion spent and still not ready to fly.

They could kill SLS and have plenty of money for the Orion craft and a lander and other goodies. NASA is a government works program and not interested in doing bold exploitation anymore.
