The indictment says the daughter was given twice the amount of time to take the SAT as other students and the paid proctor agreed to secretly correct her answers afterwards.

How do you live down being the girl who got twice as much time to take the test and still couldn't do well enough to get in?

The smarter thing to do would have been to become a friend of the school.

If they couldn't give a building they could have given lectures, public appearances, master classes, book signings, donated art works, provided internships and jobs for students, made professors advisers on films.

I would guess her grades and scores were not good enough to go the traditional bribery route.
